Cthulhu Saves Christmas (Available now and free for Stadia Pro subscribers) is a very interesting, simple turn based JRPG comedy that uses some of the best and most innovative mechanics for 16 bit RPGs. It’s designed as an Eldritch horror game where the main focus is to guide Cthulhu and his party in a quest to try and save Christmas as quickly as possible. There are other things to consider here. Cthulhu lost his powers, and he is not able to get them back unless he rescues Santa Claus from the League of Christmas Evil.

The game is a prequel to Cthulhu Saves The World, and it’s designed to be not only very creative, but fully innovative and extremely entertaining. It’s engaging and enthralling, and it helps push the boundaries in a great and empowering manner. What you will like about the game is that you have multiple difficulty levels. You can go through the story in a simple way with Easy, or you can add a more tactical gameplay with higher difficulties, which is always important.

What sets Cthulhu Saves Christmas apart is the high level of comedy. The game itself has a lot of comic and fun ideas, and it does bring in front great innovation and creativity. It helps push the experience to new heights, while allowing you to explore the story in a fun way and expand on some great ideas. It’s nice to see that Cthulhu needs to do something food in order for him to be bad.

When it comes to the gameplay, you have multiple abilities you can use, and each one of them is very distinctive and filled with plenty of creative options and ideas. The nice thing here is that you can have combo moves with the team. Thankfully, you can be as creative as you want with the attacks, and all the ailments get removed after the battle itself since you get back to 100%. It’s a nifty idea and it allows you all sorts of creative moments, while still pushing the limits and trying out something unique and fun.

There is an interesting dialog between characters, and the nice thing is that it ends up being super creative and exciting at the same time. You will particularly like how different each character really is, so having them try to get alone is the coolest thing about this entire experience, and that’s what makes it so unique and different at the same time.

The graphics are ok, 16-bit, but charming and that adds to the beauty of the game as a whole. It’s important to note that Cthulhu Saves Christmas is quite linear, so it doesn’t have open world exploring. However, it more than makes up for that with its fun gameplay and the really interesting comic story.
